Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility is adding a Maintenance Service Engineer to our team in Chicago, IL. In this role you will design, develop, and maintain documentation systems for Engineering procedures, in particular modifications and upgrades, either in support of customer enquiries or in the promotion of Siemens products and solutions, to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain change approvals.

In conjunction with Product Management colleagues, you will collect engineering project requirements, including modifications and upgrades, as a result of either specific enquiries or pro-active product improvement opportunities.

This role will include being involved in semi-complex design, development, testing and modifications of solutions. One will participate in communicating semi-complex technical and commercial issues and in recommending semi-complex new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.

This position will report to the Service Engineering Manager for the Mobility Customer Service engineering group.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • In response to defined customer needs or promotion of product developments, formalize engineering requirements through production of technical concepts, supporting specifications, bills of materials and validation plans where necessary,
  • Analyze parts, components, and systems to continuously improve their reliability,
  • Integrate processes and results from other workflows and disciplines to develop and propose appropriate and effective solutions,
  • Consistently demonstrate solid technical judgement and problem-solving competence,
  • Provide in-depth technical and expert product and service support, locally and remotely,
  • Develop, review, and approve technical specifications for products and services,
  • Oversee and engage in equipment commissioning,
  • Manage sub-contractors and be accountable for delivery to scope, schedule and budget,
  • Define, maintain, and communicate key performance indicators,
  • Create, maintain, analyze, and continuously improve internal processes and equipment,
  • Analyze data trends to mitigate risks and leverage opportunity,
  • Provide general guidance, train, and support colleagues at all levels of the Siemens Mobility, Inc CS organization,

    To thrive in this role, you have:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree education and rail industry related experience will be considered,
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in professional engineering,
    • 2+ years of rail experience,
    • Well demonstrated verbal and written communication skills,
    • Ability to travel domestically 10%,
    • Setting you apart from others would be a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with more than 5 years of rail experience. Product LLC (Life Cycle Costs) experience and RAMS engineering experience would be a plus.

The base salary range for this position in Chicago, IL is $118,100-$159,600 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
