24 Experience: 2 years First-time traveler: Yes Stepdown RN would
be best suited for this unit Patient Types: Unit is a
cardiac/transplant procedural unit Cardiac: Post 48-72h CABG, 24hr
post CABG if stable, TAVR, Pre and post heart transplant, Heart
failure Vascular/Thoracic: AAA, Esophagectomy, Lobectomy,
pneumectomy Travelers usually won't take LVADs, external pacers
patients No trachs Limited BiPap Patient Ratios: RN: Day 1:4 Night
1:4-6 Tech: Day 1:6 Night 1:8-12 Required Certifications: Required:
BLS, ACLS Skills required Chest Tubes (Required) Wound Vacs
Dressing changes Cardiac interpretations Drip Titration (Heparin,
Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Bumex, Lasix,) Cardiac Medications:
Primacor, Dobutamine (no titration) Central Line management & blood
draw Preferred: External pacemakers, LVADs Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse, has patient assignment on nights only Unit secretary,
24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 RT, 24/7 Phlebotomy-peripheral draws
Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech 24/7 Charting
System/Equipment: EPIC Alaris Pyxis GE monitors Floating: All
MS/Tele ED Holding - 1:4 ratio Float within scope and below
Travelers will float first Orientation: 1 day of orientation (12H)
1st day: Meet with NM/Supervisor NEO onboarding Remainder of the
shift with a preceptor Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every 3rd RTO:
Able to approve up to 7 days; additional days email NM Beth Salko
and RN Supervisor Rebecca Buchanan No On-Call Holiday Expectations:
1 per 13-week contract AAH adheres to a "fatigue policy" where all
staff, including travelers, cannot work more than 60 hours in a
week or 5 consecutive 12 hour shifts Other notes: Scrub Color: Any,
professional (no camo, denim, hoodies) Must document pain level,
before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The
pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication
order-i.e. if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the
Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. The RN must call for an order
if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8. Parking: Free at
